|Bradley Cooper and Ray Liotta in The Place Beyond the Pines (2013)|
Ray Liotta playing a bad guy? Sure, sounds about right. This time he is not a gangster though but a corrupt policeman, who is trying to recruit a young trooper (Bradley Cooper) into his gang of cops who are more than willing to bend the law in their favor. I think Ray was very good here - mean and menacing yet charming when he had to be. Not a very sizable part, but a memorable one nonetheless. Definitely the scariest he's looked in a long while.
Grade change: 44--->45. The Place Beyond the Pines did very well at the box office, so a small grade bump is in order for Ray.
