A tiny part for Emily as a Russian countess who constantly warns Karenin about maintaining proper social appearance. She is the one who makes him realize that his wife is having an affair. A confident performance from Emily, as always, but blink and you'll miss it. Normally I don't write about small cameos, but this is a very good actress, who didn't have any other movies in 2012, and I'd really like to start her data sheet. So there.
Emily is a well-established leading lady, who's able to turn in an amazing supporting performance from time to time as well. Anna Karenina is definitely not it, but remember Equilibrium? Such a heart-wrenching role. Or Synecdoche, New York? Lately she wasn't very lucky with scripts, but considering she is in 8 (!) movies in 2013, something is bound to be good and successful, right? Not necessarily, but let's hope for the best :) War Horse did quite well, so it's not like everything flopped either. She'll be fine.
