The fact that a neurotic alcoholic is the straight man of the story speaks a lot about Seven Psychopaths. Colin played this guy very well, and his performance reminded me a lot of his shaky killer from the wonderful In Bruges. The same neurotic energy is very much present here. Colin can play these guys in his sleep - by this point it's already his specialty.
He did OK in Total Recall earlier this year, but as I wrote then, there are better options for an action leading man. A neurotic, quirky character though? He is clearly one of the best. 2012 was rather disappointing for Colin overall. Two movies, one semi-decent, one good, but both didn't do any damage at the box office. His 2013 schedule looks a bit busier, so we'll see how it goes.
Grade change: 81--->81 Good job, good movie, poor box office, and he's already in the 80's, so no change here.
