Hope Springs (2012): Steve Carell
Steve is perfect for roles that require empathy. His eyes, his smile, his tone of voice - everything just clicks. This part is much smaller than he had earlier this year in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, but the tone of performance is very similar. Soft, calm and understanding.
Not much to add - there were only a few short scenes with Steve sitting in a counselor chair and giving out sexual homework. Great casting though. I can't imagine anyone better to have a profound conversation with. About...well, pretty much anything :) When he talks, you start believing that everything is going to be okay.
Grade change: 77--->78. The part was sadly too small to make bigger impact.
